Voyeurism (page 245)
A man who pleaded guilty to voyeurism under s 67(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 had an eight-month prison sentence reduced by the Court of Appeal to a community rehabilitation order on October 5, today's Justice of the Peace reports. The unnamed man installed a video camera in a loft above the bathroom to enable him to record footage of his 24-year-old stepdaughter in the shower. She became suspicious and the camera was found.
Lord Justice Rose, sitting with Mr Justice Richards and Mr Justice Bean, said a custodial sentence was wrong in principle: the offender had not shown the recordings to anyone else and had now moved out the family home. He was required to attend a sex offender group programme as a condition of the community rehabilitation order. The case is reported as R v P.
