Hello! OK? (page 39)

Hello! won its appeal against the judgment in favour of OK! based on commercial confidence yesterday. It no longer has to pay more than £1m in damages to its rival. But the Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by Hello! against the judgment in favour of the Douglases based on privacy. The appeal judges said that three other appeal judges had been wrong to lift the original injunction in November 2000.

The ruling firmly establishes privacy as part of English law. I will be discussing its effects in a new preface to the paperback edition of my book, due out in the autumn. In the meantime, you can read my report in today's Telegraph.
